How is age being represented in the clip Fallout?

Age is being represented as being intimidated.

In this scene, age is being shown as intimidating in many different ways. This is shown using different camera techniques. Intimidating is shown through a Close Up of an individual from the bullying group. This suggests that the audience may get an insight into the boys mind as to how he may try and harm the victim, which is shown through his facial expressions. This Close Up may be used to make the audience feel slightly uncomfortable about that character and his intentions. Also the on screen social group may have used it to make the audience feel as if they are under threat. The boy is shown as being the victim through his facial expressions. A Medium Close up is used to show this.

Through this Close Up we are shown his facial expression, which show that he is scared and feels threatened by the on screen social group. This may make the audience feel uncomfortable as they may begin to sense what may happen to the victim. Also the victim is being represented as being innocent. This is also shown through a Close Up, which indicates that he is innocent as he is being shown as being horrified by from the bullies. The victim is being bullied because he looks vulnerable as he only stands still, he doesn’t do anything whiles he is being criticized and he lowers his eyes by not looking eye to eye to the bullies when they are bullying him. The victim is shown as looking up towards the group, which is shown through a Low Angle Shot. This makes the victim and the audience feel fearful about the on screen social group and also shows the victim as being less powerful and less significant which makes the audience feel under threat by the on screen social group.

The conversation between the two social groups is shown through an Over-The-Shoulder Shot. This Camera Shot allows the audience to focus on one character at a time, which shows the characters feelings through their facial expressions. Also by focusing on one character at a time allows the audience to have their own opinion about each character. During this scene Music is used, this is used to establish the sense of the scene and how dramatic it is or may become. In this scene Dialogue (Digetic) is used. This shows an insight into the character, what the character thinks their attitude and their behavior. “Dred, you just say dred?” This represents the on screen social group as being intimidating because they are questioning the victim as to why he is talking. This shows that the social group expects the victim to be vulnerable so that they can use him as a pushover. The group of bullies also shows intimidating through costumes that are worn. Colours worn by the bullies are dark (red) this suggests evil and loud, which makes the audience feel as if the on screen social groups are trouble makers and too stay away from them as they may look rowdy. The term ‘trouble makers’ suggest the on screen social group is intimidating because it would make other characters feel as if they do not want to go near them. The victim is wearing light colours (white). White suggests purity but also suggests that he does not want to be noticed by anyone. White also shows that he is quiet, somebody who would rather do their own thing than getting involved into any types of gangs. A Motivated Cut is used in this scene. This is used when the victim is walking by himself and sees the group of boys coming out of the shop. When the boy sees the group he stands still and his mouth is slightly open, this makes the viewer immediately want to see what the character is looking at and why his reaction is like that, but cannot, as it is currently unavailable. This is intimidating because the victim feels as if he cannot go near the group as they may hurt him and he would rather stay away from them.
